Dr. Comisar is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine-related injuries.
He has a subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Comisar graduated from Harvard College with honors in economics, where he also participated in football & rugby.
He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society.
Dr. Comisar completed his Internship & Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago.
Dr. Comisar also completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Baylor Sports Medicine Institute in Houston.
While in Houston, Dr. Comisar worked as a team physician with the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, and the University of Houston.
He also has served as a team physician for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Columbus Destroyers arena football team, Ohio University athletics, the Arnold Classic, and Olentangy & Pickerington North High Schools.
Dr. Comisar currently serves as a team physician for Denison University and Licking Heights High School.
Dr. Comisar served as the President of the Ohio Orthopaedic Institute at Grant Medical Center from 2007-20014 and now serves as the Chairman of the Clinical Guidance Council of the Grant Medical Center Orthopaedic Accountable Clinical Management program since its inception in 2014.
Dr. Comisar currently functions as a Clinical Instructor for the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine Orthopedic Residency Program, the Grant Medical Center Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, & the Grant Medical Center Family Practice Residency.
Dr. Comisar offers a full spectrum of sports medicine surgery, including arthroscopy and minimally invasive procedures.
Dr. Comisar’s special areas of interest include ACL reconstruction; PCL injuries; multi-ligamentous knee injuries/dislocations; shoulder instability/dislocations; rotator cuff injuries/tears; patellar instability/dislocations; proximal hamstring ruptures; biceps & triceps injuries; and shoulder arthritis including total shoulder replacement and reverse shoulder replacement.
