Hi, I’m Dr. Keith LaDu. In high school and college, I played sports. I played football in high school and college, and basketball and baseball in high school.
And through that, as an undergrad, I got involved in sports medicine and worked as an athletic trainer. That kind of just drew me into that field of medicine and the sports medicine aspect of things.
I got into orthopedic surgery and sports medicine because of being involved in sports, as well as getting to work as a student athletic trainer. I got to see a lot of injuries that happened and just enjoyed helping people get better.
I went to undergrad at Oberlin College and medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. I then did an internship and residency at Doctors Hospital.
Really, what inspires me is seeing athletes get hurt, injured, broken bones, torn ligaments, and torn tendons, and knowing that I can fix them and be able to get them back into their sports.
