COMMON INJURIES AS WE AGE – MICHAEL B. CANNONE, D.O.

Transcript:

The aged population is starting to become more active.

The typical things that I see that we take care of are rotator cuff tearinglabral tearing, and non-surgical stuff such as bursitis and overuse type of injury.

In an older patient, I would have them rest it for at least a week. If you don’t have cardiac disease or GI issues, you can start taking an anti-inflammatory.

If they’re doing that and their symptoms persist after a week, then they should be seen.

Or if they’re losing motion in the joint, whether it be a knee or a shoulder, if the knee’s locked up, they can’t straighten it out, they should come in sooner.
